How to delete your account

Pause, or cancel and delete your Beacon account

How did you end up here? We hope you're just lost in the labyrinth of Beacon documentation, with slightly less David Bowie.

In the very sad event that you would like to delete your Beacon account and cancel your subscription, we'd initially recommend that you have a chat with us! We can pause your account, or try to fix any issues you might have. It's always useful for us to know why you might be thinking of leaving Beacon, as we might be able to help out!

Talk to us with the big blue chat button in the bottom right of every screen in your database, or send an email straight to us and we will be happy to have a conversation with you:

Warning: Before we go any further, it is worth knowing - Deleting your Beacon account is completely final. We take GDPR and security very seriously, so we delete ALL your data, billing details, charts, imports, exports, etc. when you delete your account. It's all gone. We can't recover it for you after 30 days.

Here we go...

In your settings menu, you'll find your Charity preferences.

Scroll to the bottom and you'll find the button to delete your account, and clicking it will show you a final confirmation window. You'll need to enter your password to confirm account deletion.

Your subscription with Beacon will be cancelled and so you'll no longer receive any invoices or charges from us.

Frequently asked questions

Does deleting our Beacon account also cancel any recurring donations or memberships collected through Beacon forms?

No, we don't keep those hostage! Any recurring payments through your forms would have been set up as subscriptions within Stripe or GoCardless, and they will continue to work even if you leave Beacon.

If you do want to cancel these recurring payments, you'd need to cancel them within your Stripe or GoCardless account.

We accidentally deleted our account - can we get it back?

For data retention reasons we can only recover a deleted account within 30 days. Please get in touch with us at [email protected] if you need to recover a deleted account.
