Authenticating with Microsoft and Google

You can use Microsoft and Google accounts to log in to Beacon (often called 'SSO' or 'Single Sign-On')

The simplest way to log in to Beacon

You can use a username and password to log in to Beacon or, alternatively, you can use your charity's Microsoft or Google account.

When you arrive at Beacon's login page, you will see all authentication options presented to you. All methods of authentication will log you in as the same user, as long as they use the same email address.

Authenticating with Microsoft

You will need to sign in to your Microsoft account. You'll only be able to sign in with your charity's official Microsoft account, which is usually the email address that you use to receive your work email and to log in to Outlook.

You won't be able to log in with a personal Microsoft account or an associated account (e.g. a Skype login or Xbox login).

You can use this login URL to only show Microsoft as a login option: https://app.beaconcrm.org/login?provider=microsoft

Authenticating with Google

You will need to sign in to your Google account. You can also use personal Google accounts to log in to Beacon but we highly recommend only ever using your work Google account.

You can use this login URL to only show Google as a login option: https://app.beaconcrm.org/login?provider=google

Restricting authentication to your preferred identity provider

Beacon admins have the ability to restrict how your whole charity can log in to Beacon. Go to Settings > Charity preferences and you will see a dropdown from which you can choose how you want your team to log in. Once you set this, your team will only be able to log in to Beacon with their Microsoft or Google accounts (whichever you choose).

If you select Any in the above dropdown, then your team will be able to use their usernames and passwords, Microsoft, or Google to log in. The same user account, with the same email address, can be logged in to with any of these options.

Users with access to multiple accounts

Some Beacon users have access to multiple accounts. If you log in with your username and password, you won't be able to access any accounts that have restricted identity providers. If an account is set to only allow authentication with Microsoft then you'll need to log out, and log back in with your Microsoft account.
